What is the problem?

6,800 cases of mouth camncer per year in UK (2% of cancers)

Male: Female ratio 2:1 ( incidence in women increasing)

98% of cases over 40 years-old

85% of cases over 50years-old

Overall Five-year survival is 50% ( Has not improved duringpast 40 years.)

Definite Risk Factors

Tobacco, Alcohol, Chewing Tobacco, Betel, Diet, HPV, Immunosuppression,

Sunlight and Genetic Factors.
